Small Local Outsourcing Firms Urged to Tap Australia’s SMEs The Philippine Institute of Development Studies (PIDS) has urged local business process outsourcing (BPO) firms to provide micro-offshoring services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Australia. The Australian SMEs could be a niche market for local BPO firms as small businesses in Australia look for ways to cut costs.

PIDS said micro outsourcing follows the same business model as traditional outsourcing, but is tailored to fit to the needs of SMEs. PIDS said the micro-offshoring model for Australia-based SMEs is a relatively cheap way for start-up BPO firms to penetrate the industry. It also allows small BPO centers to develop offshoring expertise and knowledge before shifting to more traditional large scale offshoring models.
